50 Affirmations For Teens That Build Confidence

A healthy dose of self confidence is vital to living a well-rounded, fulfilling life; and it’s important that we instill that in our kids throughout their childhood. But, whereas young kids usually have a bit more confidence by nature, teens can really struggle with doubts and insecurities. So, to combat them… I’ve compiled a list of affirmations for teens that you can teach your high-schooler.
But first…
How To Introduce Affirmations To Your Teens
Teens, especially if they’re not used to repeating affirmations, may be very resistant to the idea at first. Additionally, if their self-confidence is already quite low, they may dislike affirmations even more! Since the words may feel “fake” or “untrue” to them.
But there are a few ways that you can slowly introduce affirmations into your teen’s life, such as…
- Repeating a few per day together, as a fun little exercise. (You could even repeat some affirmations to yourself, so they can see the behavior modeled to them.)
- Suggesting affirmation-based videos! There are many of these on YouTube, consisting of many different types of affirmations… Body image, intelligence, capability, gratitude, etc.
- Scattering post-it notes across the house that contain general affirmations. (On a mirror, on the fridge, in a doorway…) Even if your teen doesn’t repeat these affirmation to themselves at first, just seeing the words every day will likely make a positive impact.
And remember that the more they repeat affirmations to themselves, the more they’ll start to believe them!
