Today I want to talk about positive affirmations! But more specifically, positive affirmations for kids.
Because, as we all know, a little bit of positivity can go a long way. And even something as simple as using daily affirmations can help us improve our mental health, give us confidence, and increase our bond with others. So it’s a no brainer that, as a parent, we should be using affirmations to help our kids.

First off, for people that are new to the concept of affirmations, I want to discuss what the term even means!

As you can see, neither of these statements ignore what happened (aka failing the test). The difference between them is the mindset that the person has. Ideally, you want to want to respond to situations with a more positive outlook like the second statement. Rather than a negative one like the first.

When you’re growing up, you’re still learning what your beliefs are. Your beliefs about the world around you, the people around you, and of course… yourself. And because you’re so impressionable, the things you hear and repeat are extremely important!
So if a child hears a negative comment directed at them, it’s ten times more powerful than when an adult does. Likewise, if they hear a positive comment, it’s causes ten times the impact. And as a parent, it’s our job to try and make sure that the positivity outweighs the negativity.
You can’t always keep other people from saying negative things to your children. But through the use of positive affirmations… you can teach them how to appropriately respond! And you can help them rebuild any confidence that was lost.
