These Dangerous Magnetic Balls Could Put Kid’s Lives At Risk…

This is a bit different than most “recall” posts I write, because this one revolves around a product that hasn’t officially been recalled yet. And honestly… this makes it even more dangerous. So keep reading to find out why you should keep your kids away from Doraemon’s dangerous magnetic balls.

The product in question is officially listed as a “Doraemon Dovfun Suit Magnetic Ball Set”, and has been sold on Amazon.com by Doraemon for a while now

Additional information about this set is that it costs $25. And it consists of multicolored magnetic balls that attach to each other to form a cube of sorts.

What is wrong with the sets?

The problem is that these toys go against the mandatory federal toy regulation in two main ways…

  • First of all, some of the magnetic pieces are smaller than what is allowed. Which poses a serious risk, as it makes it more likely for a child to swallow the magnets.
  • Secondly, the magnets are stronger than what is allowed. Meaning that they’re even more dangerous to be swallowed!

In short, if a child were to swallow the magnets, they’re strong enough to be attracted to each other from within the child’s digestive system. This could lead to anything from perforations, to blockages, to blood poisoning and death.

To put things in perspective… Sadly, out of the (estimated) 2,400ish hospital visits associated with magnet ingestion over a four year period, seven people died!

So this is nothing to mess around with. Which is why the CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) posted an article on December 21, 2023, urging people to dispose of these sets immediately.

As of yet, there hasn’t been an official recall from the company Doraemon itself. But the CPSC has issued a notice of violation!

Conclusion

If you do have some of these dangerous magnetic balls in your home, please get rid of them. It simply isn’t worth the risk! And don’t forget to spread the word to other moms, and read the CPSC’s article for more information.
