1. A Growth Mindset For Teens
As most of us adults know, mindset is everything. And although there’s always time to change it, it’s so much easier to build a growth mindset when you’re young than when you’re a bit older. Which is why I think this book, ‘A Growth Mindset For Teens’, is so important.
It goes over the basics of what a growth mindset is, various stress management skills, how to focus on your strengths, how to reframe negative thought patterns, and it even includes 31-day growth mindset challenges so that your teen can put all of they’ve learned into action!
2. The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens
You may have heard of ‘The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People’, seeing as it’s one of the most popular self development books of all time. But today I’d like to bring your attention to ‘The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens’, which is the adaptation that puts all that valuable information into a book that’s more targeted towards teenagers.
It talks about how to resist peer pressure, building healthy relationships, improve your self image, and much more. Plus, it was recently updated to cover topics that are relevant to modern day teens, such as cyberbullying.
3. The DBT Skills Workbook For Teens
Next up, we have ‘The DBT Skills Workbook For Teens’! This book contains so much information that aims to teach your teen the four main aspects of DBT (dialectical behavior therapy).
Exercises that the book covers include breathflix, radical acceptance, and circle of focus. And learning these skills will help your teen in a variety of areas; such as their interpersonal relationships, their emotional management, and dealing with stressors.
4. The Richest Man In Babylon
Now, some of the most inspiring books for teens actually have to do with financial literacy. And ‘The Richest Man In Babylon’ is an excellent example of that.
This well-known, and old (it was released in 1926) book dives into the seven laws of wealth through a series of parables set in ancient Babylon. It’s a very unique approach, and an absolute must read for teens. As it will instill very applicable financial principles in their mind, for future use.
5. Atomic Habits
‘Atomic Habits’ might very well be one of the most popular self help books of all time! And not only has it helped many adults get their life on track… But it’s perfect for teaching teens how to take control of their lives through the small actions they perform each day.
This books dives deep into the world of habits; going into why they’re so important, how to build them, how to fit them into your life, how to find motivation, and so much more! It’s truly a life changing book, and my twenty-two year old daughter (who was just gifted the book for Christmas) said she can verify this.
6. The Power Of Positive Thinking
This book, ‘The Power Of Positive Thinking’, is all about changing your negative thought patterns into positive ones. Which, as we all know, is a vital skill to have if you want to live a happy and fulfilled life.
Some of the main concepts discussed in this book are learning to be kind to yourself, believe in your own potential, and break out of the worry cycle. Over five million copies of this book have been sold, if that tells you anything about just how powerful positive thinking is…
7. Rich Dad Poor Dad For Teens
Now, we have another adaptation of a popular finance book… ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad For Teens’! This book is all about financial literacy, learning how to make your money work for you, and overall tips for success with your money.
And it’s presented in a very straightforward and entertaining way; with quizzes to spice things up and allow kids to practice what they’ve learned.
8. Mindfulness For Teens In 10 Minutes A Day
Circling back to more practical steps for staying calm throughout day-to-day life, the book ‘Mindfulness For Teens In 10 Minutes A Day’ is a great tool! The entire goal of this book is to teach your teen simple, easy ways to practice daily mindfulness.
The exercises it discusses don’t take very long to do, hence the “in 10 minutes” part of the name. So it makes the concepts seem a lot less daunting to teenagers who aren’t yet familiar with mindfulness. (This book is great for any teen, but even more so for those with anxiety.)
9. Make Your Bed
As I’m sure you’ve noticed, not all inspiring books for teens need to be written with teens in mind. Because at that age, they’re more than capable of grasping many adult concepts. Which is why I want to suggest the book ‘Make Your Bed’! A book with no designated age range, that I believe would make a very impactful read for teens.
The main lesson this book aims to teach is that small things can make a big difference. And it includes lots of powerful lessons and anecdotes that are sure to change how your teen looks at life.
10. Chicken Soup For The Teenage Soul
Finally, I want to suggest ‘Chicken Soup For The Teenage Soul’. This book isn’t as packed full of powerful lessons and advice, like the previous books have been… But instead, it includes emotional stories about life and everything it entails. All these stories have one thing in common, which is the fact that their goal is to inspire teens and remind them they aren’t alone.
