5 Outdoor Toys For Teens To Get Them Off Their Computer

As a mom of two, I know the struggle of getting your teenager off their computer and into the great outdoors. It’s easy when they’re young, but typically a lot more difficult as they get older. Which makes sense, because a lot of the time… Being outside isn’t as fun once you “grow up”. However, these outdoor toys for teens could change things (and get the whole family involved)!

1. Laser Tag Guns

Starting off strong, we have a set of laser tag guns! These allow you to play laser tag right in your own backyard, with laser tag guns that don’t emit actual laser beams. Meaning that they won’t cause any damage to the eyes if they’re accidently pointed at someone’s face; making them safe for adults, teens, and kids alike.

Since this set comes with four laser tag guns, you can easily split off into teams of two if you prefer. And the laser tag guns keep track of the score via an LED screen on each one, so you can just play and have fun! (I would say relax, but it is laser tag after all…)

Plus, these laser tag guns can technically be used indoors as well. So you could even host a little laser tag battle inside your home if it’s rainy out.

2. Reusable Water Balloons

Speaking of various types of “battles”, throwing water balloons at each other can be equally as fun as playing laser tag. And perhaps even more so, if it’s hot out! So I also wanted to share this set of reusable water balloons, which make water balloon fights possible all summer long without spending money each time you play.

The set includes sixty water “balloons” and they’re all made of absorbent cotton. So they can almost instantly soak up water, then be thrown at other players. Don’t worry though, they’re soft.

And aside from being reusable, they also don’t burst. Therefore… you won’t have to worry about picking balloon pieces off your lawn after the fun is over. It’s truly a win-win situation!

3. A Light-Up Flying Disk

I’m sure most of us remember playing with frisbees when we were young, and nowadays, these types of toys can be even more advanced. Such is the case with this light-up flying disk, that comes with the ability to brightly glow in a variety of colors.

It’s rechargeable (lasting for about ninety minutes at a time), so you don’t have to worry about replacing batteries all the time. And because it lights up, you could even play with it outdoors in the dark! Which could add a whole other layer of challenge.

There’s also a lot of different settings to play around with… Including brightness adjustments and timers. And did I mention that it’s waterproof, as well as floatable!?!

4. A Slammo Game Set

Next on our list of outdoor toys for teens is… Slammo! An outdoor game that resembles volleyball, except with a small circular net that players need to return or spike the ball into. And this Slammo set contains everything you need to play! Including the net, a training ball, two balls for actual play, and an instruction book to teach everyone the rules.

I think this game is a great alternative for people who don’t have a place to play volleyball nearby, or just want the ability to play a similar game on the go. Since the size of the net and balls allows this game to be brought anywhere, and played in endless locations.

It’s also a good option for people with smaller backyards. As it won’t take up any of that valuable outdoor space. And can be packed away (if need be) when it’s not in use.

5. Pindaloo

Lastly, I have one more game to suggest and it’s called pindaloo. Pindaloo can be played by just one person, or with multiple (if you buy multiple tubes). And it’s essentially juggling, but with a little help…

In the context of a single player, you juggle one or two balls by swinging them out of the U-shaped tube and catching them in the other end. This is obviously great for building, or honing, your motor skills and hand-eye cooridination.

And if you buy two tubes, then it can become a two player game. Since players can toss/catch the balls back and forth to each other via their pindaloo tubes. Which is potentially even more challenging than playing it yourself!
