Top 10 Types Of Kitchen Appliances You Need In 2025

Kitchen appliances! When you hear that term, many things could come to mind! Fridges, microwaves, ovens… they all fall under this category and most of us already own them. But today, I want to talk about some types of kitchen appliances that you may not have yet.

Because, over the years, I’ve grown my collection a lot. And realized that although certain appliances can be a bit pricey, they more than pay for themselves by saving me time and trouble. So if you’re a mom who likes to cook, listen up…

1. An Air Fryer!!

I truly cannot stress enough how much I love my air fryer, and anyone I know can verify it. If I can use my air fryer for something, you best believe I will! Because there’s really no downside to it. Air fryers are easy to use, often result in less cleanup, require no oils (which makes the dishes healthier), are quicker, and usually make food more crispy than when you cook it in the oven or microwave.

Of course, it really does depend on what type you buy! Seeing as, not all air fryers are created equal… And additionally, everyone has different needs. You may cook for a large family, and therefore need a bigger basket. You may want one with certain functions, or a certain aesthetic, etc.

Personally, I love my dual-blaze COSORI air fryer like it’s my third child (just kidding, my dog is my third child). I even wrote a review about it a while back. But I’ve heard good things about the Ninja brand as well.

2. Electric Salt and Pepper Shakers

Now, a slightly smaller investment that I suggest is to make the upgrade to these electric salt and pepper shakers! Not only are they gravity activated, meaning that they won’t sprinkle anything if they’re upright but will automatically turn on when they’re inverted… But they also contain other features that your everyday shakers don’t.

The most helpful aspect though (at least in my opinion) is the adjustable grinder within each shaker! This addition allows you to alternate between extra coarse, coarse, medium, fine, and extra fine options depending on what you need! So you can simply load up the shaker with coarse salt and pepper and adjust as necessary.

Oh, and these shakers can be used for other solid grain seasonings as well. So the same benefits could be applied to any kind of spice you use on a regular basis in the kitchen.

3. A Food Processor

Similar to air fryers, I think food processors are one of those unavoidable types of kitchen appliances. Because they simply save you… so… much… time! But to give you a good example of what a good food processor can do, I’ll just sing the praises of this miniature one from Hamilton Beach.

It can hold three cups worth of food; it has a 350-watt motor; and it has a dishwasher safe bowl, lid, and blade! Plus, it has the ability to…

  • Chop
  • Puree
  • And emulsify

I chose this model in particular to share, because I think the size allows it to be stored easily while still providing enough room to prepare everyday dishes! But if you tend to cook in batches or for large groups, you may need a larger food processor instead.

4. A Crock Pot

And speaking of cooking in large batches… I think this is the perfect point in the post to bring up that any busy mom needs this Crock Pot in her life. It’s stainless steel on the outside, with a stoneware insert on the inside that can hold up to seven quarts. (This insert is dishwasher safe by the way!)

As I’m sure you know, the beauty of having a Crock Pot is the ability to place your ingredients inside it and allow it to slowly cook your meal throughout the entire day. It’s perfect for those days you want a warm, home-cooked meal but don’t feel like spending hours in front of the stove.

And if you’ve never had one, trust me… It’s one of the best feelings in the world to finish a busy day, and have a Crock Pot full of your favorite stew sitting ready on the counter for you and your family to enjoy.

5. A Toaster Oven

Now, we’ve covered appliances that allow you to fry your food and slow-cook it… So now it’s time to talk about this BLACK+DECKER toaster oven, which will allow you to bake, broil, and obviously, toast!

Toaster ovens come in a variety of sizes, but the one I’ve linked can fit about four slices of bread. Or in pizza terms… A delicious nine-inch pizza. I use this toaster oven myself, and I find that it’s the perfect size for most families.

Plus, there’s a few different settings you can play around with. Including an option for keeping food warm, which you can time for up to thirty-minutes. And it even has a handy little crumb tray, that makes for some seriously easy cleanup.

6. An Ice Cream Maker

This is one of those types of kitchen appliances that not everyone will need, but some will love! And it is the CUISINART ice cream maker.

Ice cream fans will know, the ability to… choose your own flavors, know exactly what’s going into your icy treat, and create a dessert that you know is of the highest quality… Makes enjoying everyone’s favorite summer treat all the more fun! And having your own ice cream maker allows you to do just that.

This one, in particular, can hold two quarts worth of your custom ice cream. (You could also make yogurt, sorbet, sherbet, or even frozen drinks with this device!) And it has a fully automatic motor that does all the heavy lifting for you, within about half an hour. All you have to do is pick your ingredients, throw them in, and turn the ice cream maker on.

7. A Vegetable Chopper

Next in the list of types of kitchen appliances I want to talk about is the Fullstar vegetable chopper! It falls into the same sort of category as the food processor, but the two appliances do slightly different things!

Whereas the food processor chops, purees, and emulsifies via its motorized blades… This vegetable chopper allows you to chop, dice, slice, and spiralize various produce. To achieve this, it comes with four different blades that you can use interchangably.

You simply choose the blade of your choice, and either scrape the veggie over the top of the blade (for the spiralizer) or close the lid on top of the vegetable in order to chop it! It will then fall into the container below, and just like that… you have freshly sliced vegetables.

8. A Bread Maker

Alright, this CUISINART bread maker is for all my baking moms out there. Making your own bread at home can be a real challenge, and a time consuming one at that… But with this type of appliance, you can make a variety of bread-based recipes with much less hassle.

This particular model allows you to bake up to a two-pound loaf of bread, and it comes with a recipe booklet for inspiration! It also has a beeping feature, to remind you to do things like remove the kneading paddle or add your mix-ins!

It’s easy to underestimate how big of a difference a targeted appliance like this could make in your kitchen. But when you stop to think about how nice it would be to be able to make a staple like bread at home, it’s easy to see why devices like this are so popular!

9. A Stand Mixer

This Aucma stand mixer is one of the most expensive types of kitchen appliances I included in this list. But I think if you’re someone who enjoys cooking from scratch, and you do it quite often, this investment could be totally worth it!

The mixer itself comes equipped with things like a 660W copper motor, a tilt head design, a splash guard, six different speed options, and anti-slip feet. As well as three different accessories that can be attached as necessary; a whisk, a dough hook, and a mixing beater! Plus, it’s stainless steel bowl can hold up to 6.5 quarts.

All in all, it’s well worth the money for anyone who has to whisk and mix on the regular.

10. An Electric Griddler

Lastly, I’d like to suggest this CUISINART electric griddler. Which can actually be used in five different ways, depending on what you need it for… A half-griddle/half-grill, a full griddle or full grill, and panini press!

Aside from it’s flexibility, this griddler also stands out because it has features like…

  • A wide range of potential temperatures
  • Dishwasher safe cooking plates
  • And an LCD display that allows you show functions, set timers, and of course, manage the temperature of the device.

All of this versatility allows you to use this mini-grill/griddler/panini press in a variety of situations. So I think it’s another must-have, if you enjoy cooking grilled food.
